Unlike UVB radiation that has lessened for the winter, UVA rays are still in full force all day and all through the winter months. And, don't think that cold weather decreases the amount of UV rays you receive. Wearing a wide brimmed hat in the winter not only provides sun protection but it can also have the advantage of keeping the snow, sleet and rain out of your eyes. Winter hats have typically not been looked to for sun protection so some of the hats below have not been sent to an independent laboratory for their UPF rating.
